We have had the privilege of being a part of Head Start’s journey for 15 of its 35 years! And what a wonderful experience it has been, and continues to be.

We started our journey with Head Start when our first born, who is going to graduate from Grade 12 next year, joined Montessori as a 2.5 year old toddler. We have seen this child of ours grow from a shy little kid of few words to a young adult who gives impressive presentations and is not afraid to speak his mind, despite being the introverted child that he is. Subsequently our twins joined the programme.

We have seen our children try one sport or other, one music instrument or other, because there is choice. Our children (and us) are such big fans of Head Start’s theatre group. They are able to gauge people’s moods by looking at them, as their long theatre workshops and discussions have trained them to observe people and situations.

My kids have found some of the best buddies in their teachers. They can have open discussions with them.

From “Roll, roll, roll the mat”, channa pounding, cucumber cutting, to Shakespeare, Macroeconomics, Advanced Calculus etc. etc., it has been one long happy journey ….
