Our Programme<\/h2>\n

Head Start believes strongly in the philosophy of Maria Montessori who genuinely loved and respected the Child. She used the phrase \u2018House of Children\u2019 rather than the word \u2018School\u2019 as it becomes a home away from home. Each child becomes a member of a small community in a specially prepared environment. Every environment has a mixed age group of children. Children spontaneously share, learn from each other and develop cooperative social interaction, which brings about confidence, respect for others, appreciation of individual differences and joy in helping each other.<\/p>\n

A Journey from Infancy to High School<\/strong>
\nMontessori learning is designed to follow a child\u2019s developmental milestones. Our curriculum therefore aligns with the characteristics of each age group. The development of the \u2018whole\u2019 child is important - physically, sensorially, emotionally, intellectually; as an individual and as a member of a community. Our child-centred programme offers creative choices and enables each child to work according to readiness and ability.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

15 months to 3 years<\/a><\/span><\/h5>\n
Infancy\/Early Years Programme<\/span><\/h5>\n
Our Infancy programme focuses on self-sufficiency, strengthens gross and fine motor skills and appeals to the senses. It is integrally related to skills required for independence in our day to day lives, something the young child intuitively craves. The principle followed is \u2018learning by doing\u2019.<\/h6>\n

3 to 6 years<\/a><\/span><\/h5>\n
Pre-Primary Programme<\/span><\/h5>\n
Around the age of 2 \u00bd to 3 years, children transition to the Pre-Primary environment. Along with their physical growth and coordination, they are provided with experiences that further develop their senses, enrich vocabulary and the power of communication, as well as an understanding of numbers. They get a feel of the culture that surrounds communities around the world and their connection with it.<\/h6>\n
Sessions run from Monday to Friday

\nYear 2: 8.30am to 2pm
\nYear 3: 8.30am to 3pm<\/h6>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Grades 1-7<\/a><\/span><\/h5>\n
Lower Elementary: 6 to 9 years (Grades 1, 2, 3)<\/span><\/h5>\n
Upper Elementary: 9 to 13 years (Grades 4, 5, 6, 7)<\/span><\/h5>\n
Around the age of six, children are ready to stretch beyond the environment they know and explore what lies beyond. They have a voracious appetite for facts, a desire to assert their claim for mental independence, and vivid imaginations. The mixed age group in each Elementary environment provides opportunities for wider social interaction. Groups of children work on different concepts, unlike in a traditional classroom where every child is doing the same thing.<\/h6>\n

The journey continues at Head Start Educational Academy<\/span><\/h5>\n
On completion of the Elementary programme (Grade 7), children have the option of continuing their journey from Grade 8 to 12 at Head Start Educational Academy, Sarjapur.
